Society for Nurses in Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Surgery

We are highly skilled and specialized registered nurses working in either Endoscopy or Operating rooms across Sub-saharan of Africa. We advocate for prompt quality care and safe patient outcomes and provide support in the maintenance of endoscopes and other specialized equipment used in GI endoscopy and minimally invasive interventions and provide technical assistance during advanced surgical services.

The birth of a SNEMIS-West Africa was conceived during the 2016 Scientific Conference of the Laparoscopy Surgery Society of Nigeria (LASSON, 2016-National Hospital, Abuja, Nigeria) where the SNEMIS Founders- Mr. Joel Kpodo (GI Endoscopy/Perioperative Nurse Specialist from Ghana) and Mr. Johnson Ogundare (Clinical Applications Trainer-Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Surgery) came together to form this Society that will help develop Standards and Competencies for Registered Perioperative Nurses in Endoscopy & Minimally Invasive Surgery in West Africa in order to promote operating room efficiency, equipment optimization, safe surgery outcomes and support for Returns On Investment (ROI) in a Patient-centred environment.

Society for Nurses in Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Surgery (SNEMIS) will partner with professional and regulatory organizations, Key Opinion Leaders in providing professional development opportunities to registered nurses interested in advancing their professional career in diagnostic endoscopy and minimally invasive interventions across the region.
