The Society for Nurses in Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Surgery (SNEMIS) is group of registered nurses specialized in working in Gastrointestinal Endoscopy Units and also assisting in Minimally Invasive Surgeries (MIS) such as Laparoscopy, Arthroscopy, Gynae-endoscopy, Endourology,  Upper GI and Bariatric and all other forms of minimally invasive interventions  in health facilities in West Africa.

The birth of a Society that was conceived during the 2016 LASSON Conference (National Hospital, Abuja) where Mr. Joel Kpodo (from Ghana)a group of Registered Perioperative Nurses, after several consultations to Perioperative nurse leaders in Nigeria, came together to form this Society that will help develop Standards and Competencies for Registered Perioperative Nurses in Endoscopy & Minimally Invasive Surgery in Nigeria in order to promote operating room efficiency, equipment optimization, safe surgery outcomes and support for Returns On Investment (ROI) in a Patient-centred environment.

The Society for Nurses in Endoscopy and Minimally Invasive Surgeries (SNEMIS) – Nigeria will continually work to support Physicians and Keyholes surgeons in ensuring prompt and accurate diagnosis as well as quality and safe perioperative nursing care while assisting in Minimally Invasive Surgeries (MIS) such as laparoscopy General Surgery, Laparoscopy Gyneacology, Endourology, Arthroscopy, ENT and all other forms of MIS in both government and private health facilities in Nigeria. We train Registered Nurses on Care, Maintenance and Repair Avoidance of all types of endoscopy and laparoscopy equipment and instruments.
